Toyota announces a bold new addition to the Toyota Camry lineup with the 2026 Nightshade Edition model. Further enhancing Camry’s already striking appearance, the Nightshade Edition features Midnight Black Metallic exterior elements, unique 19-inch wheels and gloss black badging.

The new Nightshade Edition is available in Ice Cap, Supersonic Red, and Midnight Black Metallic and is accented with several Midnight Black Metallic pieces, including the front grille, air curtains, side spoilers, door handles, mirror caps, shark fin antenna, rear lower diffuser, and rear spoiler. This new, sporty, blacked-out look enhances the Camry’s undeniable style.

The Nightshade Edition joins the LE, SE, XLE, and XSE trim levels, now providing five options for the Camry lineup. All five Camry trim levels are available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Plus, as a hybrid, it offers excellent fuel efficiency, with an manufacturer-estimated combined rating of 51 MPG for the LE FWD model.

Also new for 2026 is the Dark Cosmos exterior color, a seductive, diffuse blue available on the SE, XLE, and XSE models.

The 2026 Toyota Camry is expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships in the summer of 2025. Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

Toyota’s Efficient Hybrid System

The Toyota Camry is a unique hybrid, combining the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS) with a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine, and has a standard combined net output of 225 horsepower for front-wheel drive models and 232 horsepower for all-wheel drive models. Last year, when the ninth-generation Camry was introduced, Toyota engineers tuned the THS 5 to provide a natural acceleration feel synchronized with engine speed. This was achieved by boosting the power from the lithium-ion traction battery through the electric motor-generator, helping to suppress sudden increases in engine rpm during acceleration.

The Camry also features an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) that engineers have tuned to intelligently find the right gear ratio to match the driver’s acceleration, delivering a sporty and smooth driving experience that also helps promote optimal fuel efficiency.

Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive

For added peace of mind, Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is available on all models. It has been designed to work seamlessly with the THS 5 and uses an electric motor-generator on the rear axle to deliver a combined net output of 232 hp in all-wheel drive – 30 hp more than the previous generation Camry with manual all-wheel drive.

The system provides precise torque distribution between the front and rear axles based on driving conditions, facilitating acceleration from a start and improving maneuverability and stability in everyday driving situations. If the system determines the road is slippery or detects a loss of tire grip, it controls torque distribution to the rear wheels to provide ample traction performance that helps keep the Camry on the intended path, further contributing to driver confidence.

Impressive Ride and Handling

Drivers will enjoy a responsive suspension and agile handling that add excitement to winding roads. All models feature an optimized MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. The SE, Nightshade Edition and XSE models feature a sport-specific suspension with front and rear shock absorbers, including a larger diameter front stabilizer bar than other models, providing increased comfort, impressive stability, maneuverability and driving confidence.

The Electronically Controlled Braking (ECB) system features on-demand pressurization provided by a pump motor in the brake actuator, allowing for ideal controllability and brake feel.

Drivers can also customize their Camry’s driving experience to suit their specific tastes with selectable driving modes from the standard NORMAL, ECO, and SPORT models.

Bold Style

The ninth-generation Camry, designed by CALTY studios in Newport Beach , California , and Ann Arbor, Michigan , brings a sleek, sporty look to the sedan. The distinctive hammerhead front end gives the vehicle a fresh, modern design that has become a Toyota hallmark. All models feature LED headlights and daytime running lights.

On the LE and XLE models, customers will be greeted with refined styling that includes a horizontal bar front grille in black on the LE and dark gray metallic on the XLE. The LE comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, while the XLE comes standard with 18-inch black machine-finished alloy wheels. The XLE further stands out within the lineup with chrome-finished window sills that accompany the chrome-finished Camry badging found on both models.

The SE and XSE models add a sporty and aggressive touch to the Camry lineup with sporty front grilles, sporty side moldings, and blacked-out finishers that enhance the sleek roofline and sculpted bodywork. Functional front air ducts, spoilers, a rear wing, and a rear diffuser add to the race-inspired design and contribute to aerodynamic performance. The rear end also features an exposed dual exhaust, further enhancing the sporty look. The Camry nameplate is finished in gloss black on both Sport models, while the XSE badge is adorned with a unique black trunk lid garnish. The XSE is sure to turn heads and leans even further toward the sporty style with a color-coordinated front grille, front side spoilers, and rear diffuser. The SE features 18-inch alloy wheels with a black finish, while the XSE comes well-equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels with a black and smoke gray finish.

Exterior color options include Ocean Gem, Heavy Metal, Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, Underground, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, Reservoir Blue, and the new Dark Cosmos. The XSE trim adds an available two-tone look with Ocean Gem, Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, and Supersonic Red paired with a Midnight Black Metallic roof.

Enhanced Cabin Experience

Combined with the Camry’s impeccable craftsmanship, the modern open concept and refined materials deliver a unique interior design experience for every model.

Starting with the Sport models, the SE and Nightshade Edition models come with SofTex-trimmed seats with white sport accents. The SE has a Boulder or Black interior option, while the Nightshade Edition features a Black interior. The XSE adds a standard leather-trimmed interior with artistic “shooting blade” perforations on the door rocker panels and seating surfaces. The XSE interior is available in two colors: Black with Blue Line Perforations or Cockpit Red. SE, Nightshade Edition, and XSE models come standard with aluminum sport pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters and a leather-wrapped shift knob.

The LE and XLE models also showcase their own unique personality and interior style. The LE will feature an expertly crafted interior inspired by ocean waves, with a woven embossed pattern found on the interior trim and seating surfaces in Boulder or Black. The luxurious XLE trim is the first Toyota Camry to feature a combination of leather and Dinamica microfiber upholstery available in Light Gray or Black. The quilted pattern with the Dinamica finish is also found on the front door panels and dashboard.

When designing the ninth-generation Camry, engineers improved comfort by changing the shape and density of the seat cushion and increasing its length. The headrest has also been softened and moved rearward to improve ergonomics and ride comfort. That comfort can be further enhanced with heated front seats, which come standard on XLE and XSE models and are optional on LE and SE models. Upper models also feature heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, with the option of ventilated front seats. And that’s not all: XLE and XSE models also include standard 8-way power driver and front passenger seats.

The XLE and XSE models enjoy an even quieter cabin thanks to standard front acoustic laminated glass, which helps reduce wind noise and vibrations.

The Toyota Camry also sets the standard for comfort. The latest-generation model comes standard with push-button start and dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents. And, for those with multiple drivers in the household, the XLE and XSE models offer driver memory seats and memory side mirrors. For added convenience, XLE models also feature rain-sensing automatic wipers. For the first time on a Camry Hybrid, the XLE and XSE models will have the option of a power tilt-and-slide panoramic roof with a power retractable sunshade.

Advanced Technology

For the 2026 model year, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster comes standard on LE, SE and Nightshade Edition models, while a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on XLE and XSE models. XLE and XSE models also offer an available 10-inch Head-Up Display that allows drivers to check their speed, view warning indicators and view turn-by-turn navigation without taking their eyes off the road.

The Toyota Audio multimedia system includes a standard 8-inch touchscreen or an optional 12.3-inch display. The system includes standard wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and pairs seamlessly with the standard Qi wireless charging pad. The Camry also offers a standard combination of five USB ports, with three in the front (2 USB-C and 1 USB-A multimedia port) and two in the rear (1 USB-C and 1 USB-A) on all models.

Drivers can use the Digital Key through the Toyota App and enable passive unlocking of the front doors and trunk, or start the vehicle with the push of a button inside the vehicle using their smartphone as the key (1-year trial included on select models).

Subscription required after trial period. 4G network dependent.

Safety and Convenience

The Toyota Camry comes standard with Blind Spot Monitoring, designed to alert you when a vehicle in the adjacent lane enters the Camry’s blind spot on either side of the vehicle. And when in reverse, the standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system helps detect vehicles approaching from either side, warning you with indicators in the side mirrors and a warning tone. Also standard is Safe Exit Alert, which uses rear side radar sensors mounted inside the rear bumper to warn occupants if a vehicle or bicycle is approaching from behind that could collide with the door when opened.

Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0 can also be found on the 2026 Toyota Camry. The safety package includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS with PD) is designed to help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, cyclist, or motorcyclist and provide an audible and visual warning of a forward collision under certain circumstances. If the driver doesn’t react, the system is designed to automatically activate emergency braking.
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is an adaptive cruise control system designed to adjust at speeds above 20 mph. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead.
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist: Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA with SA) detects lane markings or the edge of the road at speeds above 30 mph. LDA with SA is designed to provide an audible and visual warning if an unintended lane departure is detected. If no corrective action is taken, Steering Assist is designed to provide gentle steering correction to help maintain lane.
  • Lane Tracing Assist: Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) is designed to help keep the vehicle in the center of the lane. LTA assists the driver with steering control while DRCC is in use.
  • Traffic Sign Assist: Traffic Sign Assist (RSA) uses the front camera to recognize specific traffic signs, such as speed limit, stop, and yield signs. RSA provides sign information to the driver via the multi-information display.
  • Automatic High Beams: Automatic high beams (AHB) are designed to detect the headlights of approaching vehicles and the taillights of vehicles ahead. AHB automatically switches between high and low beams as needed.
  • Proactive Driving Assistant: The Proactive Driving Assistant (PDA) uses the vehicle’s camera and radar, when the system’s operating conditions are met, to apply gentle braking and/or steering assistance to assist with driving tasks such as controlling the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front, pedestrians, or cyclists. The PDA can also provide gentle braking when cornering.
