Geotab, one of the world’s leading providers of connected transportation solutions, today announced its partnership with automobile manufacturer BMW Group, welcoming a new partner to its OEM (original equipment manufacturer) network in full growth. The combination of data from the BMW Group and the power of the Geotab platform offers fleet managers a turnkey connectivity solution. Fleets, leasing and short-term rental companies, and car-sharing and ride-sharing associations now benefit from intelligent data enabling them to make near real-time decisions about fleet performance. This data takes into account driver productivity, behaviour and safety.

The analyzes made possible by the feedback of data also make it possible to fuel global sustainable development efforts, and in particular, the CSRD report (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), which will be mandatory for certain companies in the European Union from 2024.

Concretely, fleet managers can use the Geotab platform to optimize routes, increase fuel efficiency, identify electrification potential and reduce ‘engine running’ downtime based on data relating to their vehicles. The platform processes all collected data and transforms it into useful information, providing fleet managers with the insights they need to better understand their fleet’s performance.

Telematics integrated into BMW Group vehicles can now be combined with technologies from the MyGeotab platform. Through this partnership, users directly benefit from high-performance OEM data, grouped in a single, manufacturer-independent platform, allowing them to simply manage their entire fleet and make informed decisions, regardless of the size of their parking. Activation is carried out remotely and does not require a visit to the workshop, also saving them time and money.

“The cooperation with a world-renowned company like the BMW Group marks an important step in our strategy to become a leading partner for OEMs. Collaboration with a company specializing in telematics offers numerous advantages for vehicle manufacturers and customers. OEMs do not need to develop their own infrastructures for data analysis and visualization, but can directly integrate their data with telematics, using cloud systems and innovative APIs. Customers always receive all the information OEM-specific data ㅡ analyzed in an optimized way and incorporated with other fleet data, providing a holistic view of operations. says Christoph Ludewig, Vice President of OEM Europe, at Geotab.

The MyGeotab platform can now integrate proprietary data from several manufacturers, including BMW, Renault, Ford, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel/Vauxhall, DS and Mercedes-Benz, among others, as well as data from Geotab’s telematics box.

The software is compatible with electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrids (PHEV) as well as conventional internal combustion engines (ICE). It takes into account relevant data for each vehicle category. Depending on their needs, users can choose between different data access systems and pricing plans offered by Geotab.

This provides an overview of the fleet, across all makes, model years and uses. This means that data from different sources is not only integrated and synchronized but also collated and presented to fleet managers in a uniform and comprehensive manner.

The OEM partnership between Geotab and BMW is effective from September 2023 in 30 European countries.
