Neil Jesani Advisors (NJA), a leading strategic tax planning and advisory firm serving high-net-worth individuals and successful businesses nationwide, recently announced that Brian Cornell has joined the firm’s Strategic Board of Advisors.

One of the most accomplished leaders in American business, Cornell brings more than three decades of experience spanning global consumer brands, large-scale operations, corporate governance, and chief executive leadership. His appointment further strengthens NJA’s Strategic Board of Advisors as the firm continues to expand its national footprint and deepen its commitment to serving business owners and high-net-worth individuals with sophisticated tax planning and advisory services.

“Brian Cornell’s track record of building enduring, high-performing organizations makes him an invaluable addition to our Strategic Board of Advisors,” said Neil Jesani, President & CEO of Neil Jesani Advisors. “His expertise in growth strategy, operational excellence, brand building, and corporate governance will provide tremendous insight as we continue building one of the nation’s premier advisory firms.”

Cornell serves as Executive Chair of Target’s Board of Directors. He stepped into this role in February, after serving as Target’s Chief Executive Officer since 2014. Cornell is credited with helping transform the iconic brand into a $100 billion omnichannel retailer. Under his leadership, Target grew to over 2,000 U.S. stores, expanded its second headquarters in India and its global supply chain and sourcing organization. He is credited with establishing the strategic direction that placed Target’s stores at the center of both physical shopping and digital fulfillment vision that, together with the acquisition of Shipt, established the company as a leader in same-day, store-based fulfillment. Target grew by nearly USD 40 billion during his tenure, fueled by a profitable digital business, an owned brand portfolio that grew to USD 30 billion, a third-party marketplace that surpassed USD 1 billion, and a rapidly growing USD 2 billion advertising business. Cornell also spearheaded investments in wages, benefits, and team training and development to make Target a destination for top talent and career growth.

Before joining Target, Cornell spent more than 30 years in senior leadership positions at companies including Safeway, and served as Chief Executive Officer of Michaels, Sam’s Club, and PepsiCo Americas Foods. He currently serves as chair of The Business Council and as non-executive chairman of the board of Yum! Brands, and previously served on the National Retail Federation’s executive committee. In 2019 he was named CEO of the Year by CNN and in 2025, Cornell was inducted into the World Retail Congress Hall of Fame. He received UCLA’s John Wooden Global Leadership Award, the Yale Legend in Leadership award, the Deming Cup for Operational Excellence from Columbia Business School, and “The Visionary” award from the National Retail Federation.

“I am pleased to join Neil Jesani Advisors’ Strategic Board of Advisors during such an exciting period of growth,” said Brian Cornell. “The firm has established an impressive reputation for delivering thoughtful, client-focused advisory services, and I look forward to working alongside Neil and the other members of the board as the organization continues to expand its impact.”

Established to support the firm’s next phase of strategic growth, the Strategic Board of Advisors brings together an accomplished group of leaders from business, government, and finance to provide guidance on long-term strategy, innovation, and organizational development.

Cornell joins fellow Strategic Board of Advisors members Ambassador Nikki Haley, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and Governor of South Carolina; Roger W. Ferguson Jr., former Vice Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve and former President & CEO of TIAA; Brian Krzanich, former CEO of Intel Corporation and current CEO of Cerence AI; and General H.R. McMaster, former U.S. National Security Advisor and retired four-star Army general.

The continued expansion of the Strategic Board of Advisors reflects NJA’s commitment to attracting world-class leadership as it accelerates its national growth strategy and enhances the value it delivers to clients.
