Sports company PUMA announces a new collaboration with American creative recycler Andrew Burgess and his brand VIVID VISIONS with the launch of an experimental capsule collection.

In collaboration with PUMA, Andrew has created five designs, each made entirely from PUMA’s recycled polyester RE:FIBRE fabric. Photographed with models at London’s iconic York Hall Leisure Centre, the art direction blends futuristic design with retro sports nostalgia and pays homage to PUMA’s roots, while showcasing the brand and Andrews’ commitment to innovation. sustainable textile.

The creative images show the garments again and again, reflecting the endless possibilities of circular fashion, in which old items are transformed into new ones, again and again.

Andrew, known for his talent in repurposing used and damaged clothing, was inspired by PUMA partner factories during a visit to Turkey. During that trip, Andrew witnessed PUMA’s impressive advancements in expanding circular textile technology and made his own bespoke RE:FIBRE fabric from recycled polyester garments.

Seeing the innovation, research, machinery, sustainable practices and production that go into making RE:FIBRE fabric was eye-opening. When I think about garment production, I think about the last step of sewing, when the fabric is joined together to create the finished product, since that is my usual reuse process. But knowing exactly what is done to break down old textiles, which would otherwise end up in landfill, before they become something new was very interesting,” explains Andrew.

The collection itself reflects the beauty of the RE:FIBRE recycling process, with designs that embody shredded, depolymerized, repolymerized and reimagined fabrics.

Andrew comments: “My brand, VIVID VISIONS, is about mixing the past with the future. Therefore, working with PUMA to create a unique collection from a “new” recycled fabric was a very interesting experience. The strips of fabric on the sleeves represent the RE:FIBRE yarn that has been spun from molten polymers, and the cut-out pants and jacket reflect the transformative process that is RE:FIBRE.”

This fashion experiment is born from the ongoing collaboration between PUMA and the American upcycler, which is part of Voices of A RE:GENERATION, an initiative that aims to improve transparency and carry out more effective communication regarding brand sustainability.
