Jones Walker LLP is pleased to welcome Christa Ketchum as special counsel in the Tax Practice Group and a member of the tax credit finance team in the Birmingham office.

Christa is a qualified property and finance attorney who draws on her extensive background in private practice and as in-house corporate counsel for both title insurance companies and commercial developers. She will play a key role in helping real estate clients navigate complex federal and state tax incentives and tax credits, including low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) programs.

She has broad experience advising on the structure of transactions; composing entity formation documents; drafting and negotiating purchase agreements and closing documents; assisting with due diligence, acquisition, entitlements, and zoning matters; and managing the closing process. Christa has represented clients across the continuum of commercial real estate transactions, including investors, developers, landlords, and borrowers on large-scale development projects throughout the Sunbelt and has experience advising purchasers and sellers in 1031 exchanges and serving as a 1031 intermediary.
Christa’s firsthand industry experience enables her to help lenders and investors identify and mitigate property, environmental, financial, and other business risks; avoid excessive capital expenditures; and take advantage of LIHTC programs that can help achieve their objectives.
