Corgi Insurance Appoints Daniel Hausman as Vice President of Trucking Program

Daniel Hausman, Vice President of its Trucking Program, Corgi Insurance

Corgi Insurance, an AI-native insurance carrier, has announced the appointment of Daniel Hausman as Vice President of its Trucking Program, bringing decades of experience in commercial trucking insurance, underwriting, program development, distribution, and risk management to Corgi’s transportation business.

Hausman is an accomplished insurance professional with deep expertise in commercial trucking risk and a track record of building and scaling insurance programs from the ground up. He holds a CPCU, MBA, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, combining technical underwriting discipline with practical knowledge of the transportation industry.

Before joining Corgi, Hausman helped scale CSMV Underwriters from zero to nearly $20 million in one year. He also served as the first Non-Fleet Business Development Manager at Nirvana, where he helped build and scale the program from zero to $30 million. His work included rates and rules, forms redesign, go-to-market strategy, distribution, broker-of-record guidelines, customer complaint resolution, production incentives, and broader program development.

At Transportation Insurance Experts (TIE), Hausman helped negotiate a more favorable capacity agreement for its Knight Specialty binding contract and expanded distribution, contributing to 180% year-over-year profitable growth. He also led underwriting and compliance audits that resulted in updated rules and guidelines and streamlined the company’s monthly data reporting processes.

Hausman has also held operational leadership roles during corporate restructurings and led the strategic acquisition of Mulligan AI, a YC-backed insurtech focused on automating the insurance agent experience in the trucking industry.

Hausman brings an extensive network across the trucking insurance ecosystem, including retail and direct-to-consumer distribution, MGAs, carriers, embedded distribution partners, vendors, and transportation businesses.

“Hausman has spent his career understanding what makes trucking insurance work, from underwriting and capacity to distribution and operations,” said Emily Yuan, COO of Corgi. “His experience building programs at scale makes him a natural fit to help Corgi continue developing insurance products for the transportation industry.”
